Legendary artist and hip-hop icon DMX has passed away at the age of 50. X was admitted to White Plains Hospital in New York and fought on life support for seven days. The death of DMX has sparked an outpouring of tributes from fans. Bringing a different style to hip-hop in the mid-nineties, DMX propelled himself into rap royalty with a string of hits throughout the decade into the 2000s.
X signed with Def Jam in 1996 after being named the unsigned hyped by The Source Magazine. From there, he released eight albums from 1998 – 2015. Many people identified with DMX’s sound, style, and message. He leaves behind a musical legacy that will not be forgotten.
