David Ortiz has returned to Boston after being shot Sunday night in a nightclub in the Dominican Republic.
Ortiz was flown to Boston and taken to Massachusetts General Hospital about 24 hours after he was shot in the back in his native Santo Domingo, where he underwent surgery to remove portions of his intestines and gallbladder.
While the legendary Red Sox player was in critical condition Monday, he was stabilized and allowed to fly home.
Surveillance footage from the Dial bar and Lounge revealed only the shooters legs as he fired at Ortiz from behind. In the video, you can see Ortiz slump over and fall out of his chair as frightened bystanders flee.
While police initially said multiple people were in custody after the shooting, by Monday morning, police said they were holding one person: Eddy Vladimir Féliz Garcia.
National Police said Féliz Garcia and another man approached the Dial Bar and Lounge on a motorcycle before at least one opened fire, hitting Ortiz and Lopez.
The two men tried to drive away, but the motorcycle fell to the pavement, according to police.
